Topic: Transcription
Standard body: ISO
Keywords: Transcription, annotation, transcription convention, transcription tool, tier, speech data, spoken language, multimodal annotation
Description:

The standard for transcription of spoken language (ISO 24624) has been developed by the ISO/TC 37/SC 4/WG 6 since 2013. It is still being developed and currently at the CD (Committee Draft) stage. Its purpose is to specify a digital representation of spoken language transcriptions, which is compatible with the TEI-Guidelines and the other standards (such as ELAN and CHAT) established in the past few years and actively used.

The standard is built based on some approaches defined in the TEI Guidelines. It defines a framework containing a specification of a variety of constructs and mechanisms for spoken language transcription and annotation.
