The working group 2 (WG 2) within the ISO/TC 37/SC 4 deals with the problems of semantic annotation representation. Until 2011 the working group dealt with other kinds of linguistic annotations, such as morpho-syntactic, syntactic, semantic annotation and word segmentation as well. In mid 2011, the working group was split. Since then, one part of the standards development is performed by the new grounded group WG 6 „Linguistic Annotation“, and the primary WG 2 works on the development of the standards in the area of semantic annotation. Today, the main task of the WG 2 is to define a set of meta-models and the specification of the annotation and representation of linguistic and multimodal semantic information and their computational representation in a formal language.
