The working group 3 (WG 3) within the ISO/TC 37/SC 4 deals with multilingual information representation. It develops and provides formats for the representation of multilingual textual data, which can be used for example in translation activities or constructed from existing primary sources. Furthermore, it develops and provides methods and algorithms for text segmentation and word counting, and standardizes meta-markup for Globalisation, Internationalisation and Localisation (GIL). The objectives of that survey are to identify the specific markup modules which are needed to perform GIL activities.
