The working group 6 (WG 6) within the ISO/TC 37/SC 4 was founded in mid 2011 as the result of the partition of the previous WG 2. Since the partition, the primary WG 2 deals with the development of the standards in the area of semantic annotation, and the WG 6 focuses on the remaining areas of linguistic annotation. The tasks ranges from defining annotation to developing representation schemes for linguistic annotation such as morpho-syntactic and semantic annotations, and word segmentation.
